What Is A Phone Line Lead In Cable?
A phone line lead in cable is a telecommunications cable which is installed between your network termination device (NTD) which is usually installed on the side of your house, connecting to the telecommunications pit at the front of your property on the footpath, which connects to the network cables.
With the National Broadband Network (NBN) roll out, which took over the Telstra infrastructure, they have utilised a multi mixed technology (MMT) strategy which uses difference technologies across different suburbs. We will explain further about the different technologies used below.

Whether you have renovated your house, built a new house, or even want to install a cable to a granny flat, we can definitely help you. Below are the different technologies used for NBN, which are useful to know for your phone line installation.
Different Type of NBN Connections
Fibre To The Premise (FTTP)
This is a fixed line connection, which connects fibre directly into your premises from the nearest available fibre node. This connection is usually the best option due to the speeds it provides.
Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)
In this instance, your house will have a Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) cable installed inside your premise, aerial or underground. The HFC network is extended from the nearest available fibre node.
Fibre To The Curb (FTTC)
Fibre To The Node (FTTN)
The Fibre To The Node (FTTN) connection is made up of a mixture of copper network & internal cabling which extends up to the nearest fibre node. This means you are more likely to experience faults on the copper wiring since it is older and more fragile.
